Healthtech is a primary focus for Samsung Next, and we’ll have an active presence at the upcoming HLTH 2021 conference in Boston, from Oct 17-20, 2021. Samsung Next will once again be sponsoring an early stage start-up pitch competition, as well as hosting a dinner for a select group of founders and industry leaders. We’ll also be participating on a panel, “Keeping Up with Chronic Condition Management,” and sponsoring an innovators reception.

HLTH 2021 is designed for the health industry, bringing together senior leaders to solve healthcare’s most pressing problems and to realize the most promising opportunities for the future. The event includes industry-leading speakers, panel discussions, webinars. and mission-driven initiatives. This year’s event will be held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

At Samsung Next, we are particularly interested in healthcare technology. Our investment portfolio includes companies that are focused on the democratization of the healthcare industry through the integration of wellness data into clinical environments. We’re always on the lookout for good ideas, and we have prioritized investments that advance diversity and inclusion. Bringing together management, founders, and partners from different backgrounds and experiences is a key to fueling innovation.

Early Stage Startup Pitch

One of the highlights of the HLTH conference for entrepreneurs is the annual Early Stage Startup Pitch contest. We’ll be sponsoring the event again this year, and there is still time for interested companies to apply to participate. The application window is open until Friday, Sept. 17. HLTH defines startups as less than 3-years-old, with less than $5 million in capital raised.

Two pitch contest winners will receive prizes that include $25,000 of sponsorship credit for HLTH 2022 and recognition at the HLTH Innovator’s Reception. One of the companies will also win a $10,000 AWS credit. Samsung Next is one of the sponsors of the reception, which will be held on Oct. 18, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Founders Dinner

The Founders Dinner will bring together key ecosystem players, including startups, investors, and industry leaders. The invitation-only event is a great opportunity for networking and to share interests and opportunities in healthtech. This dinner will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 Health's Consumer Playbook Panel

I will be moderating a panel discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 9:20 a.m. The session, “Keeping Up with Chronic Condition Management - COVID-19,” will focus on the growing demand for digital apps in the wake of the pandemic.

Panelists will include Dana Underwood, Chief Product Officer of Everlywell; Peter Hames, CEO of Big Health; Michelle Carnahan, President of Thirty Madison Inc.; and Firdaus Bhathena, General Manager – Healthcare at Noom.

There has been a 25% increase in health app downloads since the pandemic started, and the panelists will discuss how and why consumers are using on-demand, digital apps. These Healthtech leaders also will consider how to balance convenience and access with the need for quality solutions to help people deal with what are often complex, chronic conditions.

HLTH 2021 promises four days of inspiring content, curated networking, educational sessions, and dynamic events for payers, providers, employers, investors, startups, life sciences, policymakers, and innovation centers.
